Process of “Air Freight”

1. Contact Yamato Unyu (Thailand)

Firstly, customers contact Yamato Unyu (Thailand) to inform us about the type of products, the quantities (including size and weight), the pick-up location, the country of destination (including the point of delivery), and the payment terms under INCOTERM agreement—and we will provide a consultation for the suitable approach of transportation.

2. After the consultation and estimation of the transportation

After the consultation and estimation of the transportation, you can opt for a packing service and select the date to pick-up and pack at either on-sight or Yamato Unyu (Thailand) warehouse. (Extra fees will apply to the packing service)

3. We will estimate a freight cost and provide a quotation

We will estimate a freight cost and provide a quotation with the agreement under the INCOTERM terms between the seller (the sender) and the buyer (the recipient) to decide payment methods with either Freight Prepaid or Freight Collect.

4. Customer confirms the price quotation and selects the pick-up date.

Customer confirms the price quotation and selects the pick-up date. (Please notify us at least one day in advance). After that, our staffers will create the pick-up plan (with packing if preferred) and book a flight for the Air Freight.


For export

  • On the pick-up day, we will send off our staffers to pick up your cargo. The picking process should preferably be the day before or the same day as the flight cuts off time. (The pick-up fee is calculated by the distance and the package’s size and weight).
  • Yamato Unyu (Thailand) requests an Invoice & Packing List, as well as an export license in case of controlled items, in order to issue a transportation document and AWB (Air Waybill) for customs clearance and Airline to carry on the export process to the designated destination.
  • When the cargo has reached the destination, Yamato Unyu’s international branch or partner will support customs clearance for you as a broker. Then, we will continue to be responsible for delivering your cargo to the informed destination.
  • In case the consignee has a broker working for the customs clearance, you can choose for your representative to receive the DO (Delivery Order) document on your behalf and proceed to the delivery.

For import

  • Customers contact Yamato Unyu (Thailand), Then we contact our branch or partner at the starting point and contact the seller (the sender) to set an appointment for the pick-up date, carry on the customs clearance, and book a flight for the customers.
  • Get an invoice, a packing list, and an import license (in case of controlled items) in order to issue a transportation document and AWB (Air Waybill) for customs clearance, and allow the Air Freight to carry on the process to the country of destination.
  • When the cargo has arrived in Thailand, Yamato Unyu (Thailand) will organize the customs clearance as a broker. We will inform you of the delivery plan later on.
  • In case the consignee has a broker working for the customs clearance, you can choose for your representative to receive the DO document on your behalf and proceed to the delivery.

Duration of Air Freight process

When your cargo is ready and you have all of the required documents (invoice, packing list, and import/export license in case of controlled items), you can contact us at least one day prior to the pick-up date. The duration of the Air Freight service depends on the type of flight (Direct Flight / In-Direct Flight) and the destination location.

When the cargo has reached the destination, we will organize the customs clearance, which will take an average of one day, and then deliver the cargo to the designated destination on the next day.

In case of transferring the cargo to the second destination, we will deliver it to the airport, support the customs clearance, and transport it to complete the whole process as fast as possible.


Conditions of items eligible for Air Freight

  • The size of items shipped on board is allowed according to the airline policy and the type of aircraft. The following are the standard of eligible sizes.

1. Passenger Aircraft : Maximum dimension per package: 230 cm width * 300 cm length * 160 cm height

2. Cargo Aircraft : Maximum dimension per package: 240 cm width * 300 cm length * 240 cm height

** Oversize: Depending on the placement and the airline policy

  • The maximum weight depends on the airline’s policy.
  • The packing method may depend on the size and weight of the parcel. We will provide the suitable packaging method and pack it with the Japanese standard.
  • Some items may be investigated according to the customs policy at the country of destination. We can provide a consultation for you.
  • Drugs and illegal items are prohibited.

Fee for Air Freight

The fee is calculated from the distance to the pick-up location and the fee for air freight to the destination airport. There is a limitation on the cargo’s weight according to the size and the type of vehicle delivering the cargo to the airport in order to ensure the convenience and safety.

Insurance

Yamato Unyu (Thailand) is delighted to provide insurance for the transport vehicle. The coverage starts from the pick-up point to the transfer at the airport.

If you wish to get additional coverage for the airport-to-airport process (or as INCOTERM requires), we partner with insurance companies that can organize purchasing insurance on behalf of a customer.
